Often (but not always) when an office makes the transition to the
Team Chart Concept , some information in the obsolete
billing/scheduling system will be imported into the Team
Chart Concept . This process is called 'data conversion'.
Data conversion can usually be done on the following
types of information:
- Patient Demographics (Account #, Name, Address, Phone Numbers,
etc.)
- Insurance Demographics (Company Name, Address, etc.)
- Patient to Insurance Identification Numbers
- Guarantors
- Payment Plan Information
- Patient Responsibility Balance Forward
The ability to perform a data conversion and
the charge for doing so is negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Note
that even if Ulrich Medical Concepts is able to
import your old data into the Team Chart Concept ,
the vendor of your previous system may be unwilling or unable to
export the data into files that can be imported into the Team
Chart Concept .
Most of the time, office managers and billing
personnel are reluctant to perform a data conversion for the following
reasons:
- Amount of 'junk' data in the old system
- Would like to start clean with the new system
- Many of the patients in the old system are inactive
- Unable to afford the previous vendor's data conversion quote
- Not worth the hassle for the number of active patients to bring
over
Again, data conversion is a service we offer,
but it must be handled on a case-by-case basis. We are not trying
to discourage you from doing a data conversion; we just want you
to know all of the ramifications of your decision.
