After the patient, the physician is probably the biggest beneficiary of the Team Chart Concept.  

The most visible change to the physician's routine is the patient examination.  The business of seeing patients and documenting those examinations is much faster with the Team Chart Concept.  Information is now organized and accessible to the physician while in the exam room.  The physician has access to all previous clinical, financial, and scheduling information for the patient at hand.  The physician can instantly run clinical reports and graph those reports for both his/her benefit and the patient's benefit.

The physician can document the patient examination in real-time while with the patient.  Using Templates the physician can 'audit' his/her dictation to ensure that proper levels of service are billed.  With Templates, the physician can 'automatically' and 'invisibly' request that other staff members make appointments, referrals, prescriptions, referral letters, etc. on behalf of the patient.  Nurses can also run Templates to enter such things as the patient's past medical history, allergies, medications, etc. before the physician enters the exam room.

With the Team Chart Concept, there are no more lost paper charts.  There are no more paper charts, period.  Though, perhaps awkward for some at first, being liberated from the paper chart frees the physician to move at his/her speed from patient encounter to patient encounter.

Another, more subtle, change is in the efficiency of the clinical staff.  Like the physician, the staff is also freed from the paper chart.  They do not spend time tracking down lost charts, or hand entering information into them.  Efficient team work between the physician and his/her staff is even more possible because everyone has access to all relevant information stored with the Team Chart Concept from every computer.  Information can be entered for the same patient on different computers at the same time.  The sharp clinical staff members can better anticipate the wishes and movements of the physician by watching information in the Team Chart Concept and acting accordingly.  Communication between the physician and the staff is done automatically, as a by-product of the intuitive documentation processes in the Team Chart Concept.
