It is difficult enough to keep
up with the frequent changes in immunization recommendations, with
several media outlets also waiting on the safety questions surrounding
this aspect of pediatric care. Parents are often confused
and appropriately concerned. We believe that the Team
Chart Concept provides a level of comfort for the
practitioner that helps reassure parents regarding their children's
health-care management.
First we provide the capability
of reporting the immunization record, but we also enhance the graphic
display of completed immunizations in a format consistent with widely
published immunization schedules. This alignment with established
protocols prepares the way for meaningful discussion regarding parental
concerns.
The rapid display and accurate plotting of
growth curves is also very helpful in discussing these issues with
parents and children. As newer guidelines regarding disease
prevention are promulgated, they can be easily incorporated into the
Team Chart Concept to
assist in the team building process. Parents and children alike
have been extremely receptive to this effective, respectful method
of patient education and planning.
