Internet Support added to the Team Chart Concept Version
4
The Team
Chart Concept Version 4 from Ulrich Medical Concepts now
supports the Internet! You
can browse the Internet from within the Team
Chart Concept, and you can link Team
Chart Concept Contacts and Dictionary Entries to
specific Web Sites.
Before
explaining how Internet Support works in the Team
Chart Concept, it should be noted that the Team
Chart Concept has not,
and does not, store any information
on the Internet. All information
in the Team
Chart Concept is stored in your secure
office, and on your secure computers. Furthermore
the Internet features in the Team
Chart Concept Version 4, are completely optional, and you
can continue to use the Team
Chart Concept, as you have in the past, without any Internet connection
whatsoever.
But,
if you have Internet access in your office, you can choose to combine the
nearly infinite amount of resources available on the Internet, with the organizational
speed and power of the Team
Chart Concept. Within the Team
Chart Concept you can set up ‘links’ between entries in the Team
Chart Concept, and specific Web Sites on the Internet. For
example, there are many Internet Sites devoted to various diseases, such
as diabetes, hypertensions, cancer, etc. In
the Team Chart
Concept Diagnosis Dictionary, you can define links between
a specific disease, say, 250.0 Diabetes, and any web sites that discuss Diabetes. Then,
after those links have been setup, when you select a Diagnosis, you can press
the ‘Internet’ Button on the Diagnosis Dictionary Dialog Box to quickly view
those web sites. If you, as
a health care provider, are talking to a patient with say, breast cancer,
you can quickly show the patient any web sites related to her condition.
In
Links defined for Prescription Dictionary
entries allow you to have instant access to information on medications you
prescribe. If you have access
to web sites that discuss interactions between different medications, you
could define links to those web sites to stay up to date on the latest information.
You can also define Internet
links for any Contact in the Team
Chart Concept. So,
if a patient has medical records stored on the Internet (or a private Intranet),
you can save that link in the Team
Chart Concept for quick access at any time to his/her external
medical records.
Many Insurance Companies, Pharmacies,
and other outside organizations have Internet sites. You
can define links to those Contacts for fast access within the Team
Chart Concept as well.
There is now an ‘Internet Dictionary’
within the Team
Chart Concept. Use
this dictionary to define commonly used Internet sites such as CNN.com, Google.com,
etc. You can think of this Dictionary
as very similar to the ‘Favorites’ button on most Internet browsers.
You can also make Timeline entries
that are Internet Links. For
example, if an x-ray was taken at a certain date/time and is available via
an Internet/Intranet, you create a Timeline entry for a patient, much as
you would make a Timeline entry for an External Program.
You will find ‘Internet'
Buttons sprinkled throughout the Team
Chart Concept Version 4. Any
time you press the ‘Internet’ Button, you have the option to view any pre-defined
sites related to the current entity in the Team
Chart Concept, as well as the option to instantly browse the Internet
within the Team
Chart Concept. While
browsing the Internet you can quickly save the current web site as a Team
Chart Concept Dictionary Entry, and/or link the site to
a Team Chart
Concept Dictionary entry, or Team
Chart Concept Contact.
Both the Encounter Dialog
Box, and the Template Dialog Box now have an Internet Button. When
the Internet Button is selected on either of these two screens, you will
be shown a list of any Internet Links defined for the following:
-
The Patient,
-
The
Attending, Referring, and Supervising Providers,
-
Any
assigned Insurance Companies.
-
Any
assigned Diagnoses,
-
Any
assigned Procedures, and
-
Any Prescriptions on
the same day as the Encounter.
Now
you have yet another powerful way using the Team
Chart Concept and
the Internet, to better educate yourself, your staff, and your patients,
in the pursuit of better patient care. For
more information on how to make the most of Internet access with the Team
Chart Concept,
please contact any of the staff at Ulrich Medical Concepts. We will be happy to help.
