November
11, 2002 - The Team Chart Concept Version 4
Announced!
There have been a tremendous number of changes in the Team
Chart Concept for Version 4.
This page lists the hi-lights (in no particular order).
So hang on.
Internet
Support has been added to the Team
Chart Concept
!!
You
can now:
- Browse the Internet from within the Team
Chart Concept.
- Build a Team Chart Concept
Dictionary of Internet Sites.
- Record Internet Link's as Patient Timeline Entries.
- Assign Internet Links to
- Diagnoses Dictionary Entries.
- Procedure Dictionary Entries.
- Prescription Dictionary Entries.
- User Defined Timeline Record Dictionary Entries.
- Any Contact in the Team Chart Concept.
This gives you the ability to (among
other things), access External Patient Records stored on the Internet
(or a private Intranet) directly from the Patient's 'Chart' in
You
can also assign reference information for Medications, Diagnoses, etc. directly
to the corresponding entry in
The
vast wealth of knowledge available on the Internet is now directly accessible,
and perhaps more importantly, easily organized by the power of the Team Chart
Concept from Ulrich Medical Concepts. (Of
course, you will need access to the Internet from your office.)

Chart Concept, please click here.
Bar
Code Scanner Support:
The
Team Chart Concept now supports bar code
input. You can use bar code
scanners to input such things as usernames and passwords, medications, charges,
lab values, etc. The advantages of
bar code input are speed of entry and accuracy of data values.
Using bar codes to enter usernames and passwords can also help to
guarantee secure access and privacy of passwords.
We hope to have routines to print bar codes in the near future.
Prescriptions:
2
New fields have been added to Prescriptions:
- National Drug Code (NDC) #
- Lot #
The
NDC # is also stored in the Prescription Dictionary. You can use the NDC # to find Prescription Dictionary entries
quickly and accurately.
The
Lot # can be saved on a Prescription for reference back to medication dispensed
within your office.
You
can use bar code scanners to quickly enter a Prescription by NDC # and the
corresponding Lot #.
Support
has also been added for printing Prescriptions on pre-printed Scheduled
Medication Forms.
When
Prescriptions are automatically copied into a Patient's Medication List, you now
have the option of saving the Dosage, Number, and Directions for the
Prescription, instead of just the Medication.
This option is turned on or off for each Provider via his or her
'Dictation Defaults' accessible through the Provider Dictionary
Insurance
Changes:
Up
to 6 Insurance Companies can be assigned to 1 Encounter. Each patient can have up to 6 default Insurance Companies
(and as before, an unlimited number of additional Insurance Companies) assigned.
Fee
Schedule and Box 9 Overrides:
You
can now specify that a particular Insurance Company’s Default Fee Schedule
should override the Patient’s Fee Schedule.
This option would be useful for Worker’s Compensation claims.
You also have the option to specify that a particular Insurance Company
should always have its billing information print in Box 9 of the HCFA-1500 Claim
Form. Previously this option to
print in Box 9 had to be set for each Patient.
Now the option to print in Box 9, and the option to override a
Patient’s Fee Schedule, can be set from the ‘Ins Co Info’ Tab of the
Contact Dialog Box.
Appointment
Grid:
The
Appointment Grid can now display multiple days (up to 14) for 1 Provider.
From the Appointment Grid, press the 'Providers' Button, and then
hi-light the Provider you wish to view. If
only 1 Provider is hi-lighted, you can then specify the Start Day and the Number
of days to display on the Appointment Grid.
Hospital
Account Numbers:
Patients
can be assigned Hospital Account Numbers. (via the Demographics Tab).
You can also search for Patients by Hospital Account Numbers (as well as
Insurance ID #) from the Search Contacts Dialog Box.
There is no limit as to the number of Hospital Account Numbers a patient
can be assigned. You could also use
this to record such things as patient chart numbers, and other unique
identifiers assigned to the patient.
Security:
Every
Report Type (Encounter, Productivity, Prescription, etc.) in the Team
Chart Concept now has an associated Privilege.
To run any Report in TCC, you must now be a member of a Department that
has been assigned that Report's Privilege.
To assign Privileges to Departments, invoke the menu selection:
Utilities -> Maintain Departments -> Privileges
To
assign Users to Departments, invoke the menu selection:
Utilities -> Maintain Users -> Assign Departments
Previous
versions of the Team Chart Concept had
security set for some Reports. In Version 4, Report Security is strictly enforced for all
Report Types, whether or not the report is run for the practice as a whole, or
for a particular patient. Also note
that Patient Reports can be automatically merged to Microsoft Word 2000/XP
Documents. Of course, Report
Security is enforced here as well.
Data
Points Set Dictionary:
A
new Dictionary (Data Points Set) has been added to the Team
Chart Concept to support XY Scatter Graphs.
This Dictionary allows you to define (or import) standardized sets of XY
Data Points. These Data Points Sets
can be used to compare and graph a Patient's Progress to known standards.
For
example, Pediatric Growth Charts can be imported into Data Points Set
Dictionaries. You can then chart a
child's growth progress (weight, height, head circumference) over time in
relation to recognized standards.
For
each X value, you can assign multiple Y values. Pediatric Growth Charts may have 9 or more Y values for each
X value. By graphing a child’s
height/weight/etc. against known standards, the provider can quickly see which
percentile that child falls at each point in time a measurement was recorded.
XY
Data Points can be entered by hand into the Team Chart
Concept, or bulk imported from tab-delimited files.
At Ulrich Medical Concepts we have downloaded Pediatric Growth XY Data
Points from the CDC web-site and then imported those Data Points into the Team
Chart Concept Data Points Set Dictionaries.
Reporting
Enhancements:
In
addition to the Security Enhancements mentioned above, several Additional Fields
have been added to the Team Chart Concept Reports:
- Days to 1st Entry
- Days to Prev Entry
- Days to Next Entry
- Days to Last Entry
The above 4 fields display the number
of days between 2 Rows on your Report.
These values are useful for
calculating changes in lab values over time.
These values can also be used for
accurate graphing of XY Scatter Graphs.
- Patient Age (Days)
- Patient Age (Weeks)
- Patient Age (Month)
- Patient Age (Years)
The above 4 fields display the
precise Patient age (in fractional units).
These values are useful for graphing
of Patient Growth Charts.
- Days Since Insurance Last Printed
- Days Since Insurance 1st Printed
The above 2 fields display
the number of days from the date of the report to the date insurance
was 1st/Last Printed.
These fields may be useful for Collection Reports and Aging
Reports.
Appointment Reports can now be run
for individual Patients.
Financial
Changes:
The
Patient Charge Tab now displays four additional monetary columns:
- Insurance Company Received $
- Insurance Company Adjustments $
- Patient Received $
- Patient Adjustments $
These
fields should be self-explanatory.
On
the Multi-Add Batch Payment Dialog Box, the button:
'Apply Balance Due Amount to ALL
Charges'
has been replaced with the following
button:
'Apply A Percentage To Multiple
Charges'
This
button invokes a 2 step process that allows you to quickly specify several
charges to make a 'percentage payment' from a single payer.
A 'percentage payment' is calculated as a percentage (that you specify)
of either the original charge or the balance due.
For example, you could specify that payments be made against several
charges that are 60% of the original charge.
The 1st step is to select the charges to make payments against.
The 2nd step is to specify the percentage amount, and if the percentage
should be calculated based on the original procedure charge or the current
balance due.
In
Summary:
As
you can see, we’ve been very, very, busy at Ulrich Medical Concepts.
With Internet Support and the additional Financial and Clinical
improvements, we are bringing the Team Chart Concept
to the next level software excellence, to help you raise your patient care to
your next level of excellence.
