Risk
Factor Analysis routines are used to predict the possibility
of a patient developing a medical condition in the future based
on his/her present condition. Risk
Factor Analysis routines can be performed within the
Team Chart Concept based on
the following information:
- Patient Demographics (male/female,
age, race, zip code, state, city, etc.)
- Patient Current Problems (Diagnosis
Codes for smoking, diabetes, hypertension, etc.)
- Patient Habits (smoking, drinking,
sexual, diet, etc.)
- Vital Signs (Blood Pressure,
weight, height, Body Mass Index, Pulse, Respirations, Temperature)
- Any Lab Values (Blood Sugar,
Cholesterol, etc.)
- Any other information you may
choose to track on your Patients.
Much of the medical information
gathered on a patient is predictive in nature.
For example, if a person is overweight and has high blood pressure, that
person may have a higher risk of a heart attack than a person with a normal
weight and blood pressure. Of
course there are many Risk
Factor Analysis
Formulas available to calculate, and quantify, an individual’s level of
risk based on this predictive medical information.
With the
Team
Chart Concept
you can instantly calculate these Risk
Factor Analysis
routines
for any patient at any time. During
a patient consultation, you can press a button on the computer, and show the
patient that due to his age, weight, and smoking habits, he is 50% more likely
to experience a cardiac event in the next 5 to 10 years.
Because, you have the actual numbers calculated (by a computer) for your
patient’s specific condition, your patient may be more willing to follow your
advice than if you just tell the patient that smoking is bad.
Any
values you might track, such as vital signs, glucose levels, lipids, age, sex,
medications, diet habits, etc. are available for use in Risk
Factor Analysis. Furthermore,
because the
Team
Chart Concept
is
a complete Electronic Medical Records System, the health care provider
can paste the Risk
Factor Analysis
results for a specific patient directly into the patient’s dictation (and
receive Medicare Audit Points for doing so). The provider can also graph
the results of Risk
Factor Analysis calculations over time to show how the Patient is
improving (or not) with his/her condition.
In
addition to running Risk
Factor Analysis
routines for your patients, you also have the ability to create and enter your
own Risk
Factor Analysis
routines. If you read an article in a medical journal describing a new
type of Risk
Factor Analysis
routine, you can enter the formula in the Team
Chart Concept
for immediate use on your patients. Furthermore, you can design Reports
based on your Risk
Factor Analysis
routines. Then (researchers take note), you can export your Risk
Factor Analysis
routines AND their associated Reports to a .TCC file that can be imported
for use in other installations of the Team
Chart Concept.

Chart Concept
in a research setting, click here.)
Risk
Factor Analysis
routines are created in the Team
Chart Concept
via the use of User Defined Records. For more information on User
Defined Records, click here.

above to specific examples of Risk Factor
Analysis routines that come standard with the Team
Chart Concept.
